A puzzle cube is a type of mechanical puzzle that consists of a cube made up of smaller cubes, typically 3x3x3. The faces of each cube are usually colored, and the objective is to solve the cube by twisting and turning the smaller cubes until each face has a single color. Puzzle cubes gained popularity in the 1980s with the invention of the Rubik's Cube, which remains one of the most popular puzzle cubes to this day. There are now many variations of the puzzle cube, including larger and smaller sizes, different shaped cubes, and more complex versions with additional layers of cubes. Solving a puzzle cube often requires strategy, memorization of algorithms, and lots of patience. Competitions are held around the world for speedcubing, where contestants compete to solve a cube in the fastest time.
